Smiles are Worth More When You Give Them Away!
“Give Thanks for Smiles” is an annual event in November inspired by a “pay it forward” philosophy. The doctors and support staff of Danville Dental Associates volunteer their time to help others by doing what we do best – Dentistry! Dental services, such as cleanings, extractions and fillings are offered to members of the community for $50 per procedure. November was chosen as the month to host the event because it represents a season of Thanksgiving. All proceeds for the day are donated to local food banks, such as God’s Storehouse in Danville and the Pittsylvania County Food Bank in Chatham, VA.
Dr. Chris Payne was instrumental in establishing the Give Thanks for Smiles project in 2011. The first event held November 5th, 2011, raised $3,700 for God’s Storehouse. Subsequent event results are as follows: 2012 - $4,125; 2013 - $5,220; 2014 - $4,500; 2015 - $6,425 and 2016 - $5,150. In 2015, the Chatham location designated their proceeds for the Pittsylvania County Food Bank in the amount of $900. The six events in total have raised $30,020 which represents approximately 158,526 pounds of food for God’s Storehouse and the Pittsylvania County Food Bank!
In addition to the monetary donation, patients are encouraged to bring canned goods throughout the month of November to distribution to the local food banks.
