Comfortable Dentures & Partials in Danville

Lifechanging Dental Hardware that Rebuilds Your Smile

Dentist and elderly patient smiling with dentures in DanvilleFor patients who are missing many or all of their teeth, dentures may be a good solution. Depending on how many teeth are missing, your dentist can customize a set of full dentures for your upper and lower arches or he can create a partial denture to fill in the gaps between your natural teeth. Dentures will give you the confidence to smile again, renew your ability to eat nearly anything you want, and enable you to speak clearly again. Dentures can be attached via traditional methods, such as adhesive or by the use of dental implants. Danville Dental Associates will do all that’s possible to ensure your full or partial dentures enhance your smile and improve your dental health.

Two types of dentures are available – full (complete) and partial dentures. A complete denture is used when all the teeth are missing and covers your entire upper or lower jaw, while a partial denture is used when some natural teeth remain.

Before designing and placing a partial or full dentures, there are a number of steps we need to complete to ensure a comfortable fit. First, we may need to remove one or more teeth. This is necessary when the remaining teeth are damaged, worn, or decayed, making it unlikely that they will remain healthy throughout the life of the denture. At every stage of the denture design process, we capture impressions of remaining teeth or gums that will be used by our dental lab to craft the most natural looking and feeling denture. We’ll create models of the denture for you to try prior to crafting your final prosthetic. This allows us to ensure we get exactly the right size, shape, and color. Once we’ve crafted the final restoration, you’ll come in for a fitting. We’ll make any final adjustments at this appointment to ensure the denture is comfortable. We ask that you monitor the denture as you adjust to wearing it for a few days or weeks. If you notice rubbing, shifting, or bruising while wearing your denture, let us know right away, so we can make adjustments.

Complete dentures use suction to maintain their position, and sometimes a little dental adhesive can add extra security to your bite. Partial dentures attach to your remaining healthy teeth to stay in place, usually by clipping to surrounding teeth. You should be able to eat, chew, and speak with confidence, thanks to a well-fitting dental appliance from Danville Dental Associates.

Both dentures and partials are removable, which makes them easy to care for. Simply remove the appliance, clean it with a regular toothbrush, and place it in a glass of water to soak overnight. You can even add a denture-cleaning tablet to the cup if you’d like. If you have any further questions about how to best care for your denture or partial denture, please ask the members of the Danville Dental Associates team!

Patients looking for a more permanent, life like replacement for missing teeth may consider dental implants or implant-supported dentures. Dental implants have the highest level of satisfaction compared to the alternatives and they most closely resemble the feel, look, and function of natural teeth.

With proper care, a denture can last 5 to 10 years. During that time, it's normal for the shape of your mouth to change. When these changes occur, your dentures may need rebasing or relining to ensure a proper fit. Call Danville Dental Associates to schedule an appointment with your doctor for adjustments. Remember! Adjustments are more complicated than they look and should be handled by your dentist.

Our practice provides both complete and partial denture services for patients. If you think you would like a permanent tooth replacement method, we can also schedule an appointment to discuss our other restorative dentistry options.
